Your Writing (Seriously! Come promo your book!)

I want YOU to leave a totally shameless plug for your indie published YA book(s) in the comments on this page.

Why? Because I'd like to help you. I know firsthand how exhausting/expensive/disheartening it can be to try to promote your work. Plus, I love discovering new favorite authors so when you introduce me to your work, I win too! I do an 'Indie Spotlight' feature on this blog on Mondays, and I'm looking for new stories to highlight. (And lets keep it 100. If you're reading this page, that means you're on my blog, and maybe you'll decide to check out my writing and/or follow the blog. But if you don't, that's cool too)

My First Five Promise:

-If your book is YA, indie pubbed, and on Amazon, I will download your Kindle sample and read the first five pages.

If your story isn't on Amazon, I encourage you to post it anyway, but I have a Kindle, and that's where I do most of my ereading, so I can't promise that I'll read your work in another format.

Plus:
-If your sample interests me, I'll read the entire thing.
-If I really like your sample, I'll buy the book.
-If I really like your book, I'll feature it on my blog as an indie spotlight.
-If I really love your book, I'll feature it as an indie spotlight, and will probably ask for your permission to promo it (for free) in the back pages of one of my own stories.

-I'm toying with the idea of offering a few sentences of feedback on samples, because I know how frustrating it is to sell books but get almost no reviews. Time permitting, I'll try to do so for interested parties (But no promises. My life gets crazy) If this interests you, include 'I'd love feedback' & your email address in your post.

FYI, Things I Generally Don't Like Reading About:
-Witches
-Demons
-Fallen angels

The Rules*:
-The book(s) must be YA.
-Must be self-published.
-Cannot be derogatory toward any group of people. Meaning - I don't care if your villain is a gay, handicapped black woman, and that works for the character, but if the theme of your story is 'All women/minorities/Christians/Star Trek fans/etc are stupid,' your post will be swiftly deleted. I don't really foresee this being an issue, but the internet is a strange place and when there are no rules, things have a way of going left.

So start posting! At minimum, gimme the title of your book, a blurb, and a link to where I can find it. Feel free to add a link to your blog and any other details. If you've got more than one book, promo 'em all! Here's hoping that some of you who post will also check out the hard work of your fellow indies.

*I reserve the right to change these rules, without notice, at my discretion. (For instance, if tons of people post I may only open the comments on certain days. But if that's going to happen, I'll make it clear here. Until further notice, it's a free for all!)

**I would be remiss to not acknowledge two people who inspired this: C.E. Zarazoga - who gave me the idea with her brilliant Sample Swear on Zarazoga Writes & Sandra at SSBookFanatics - whose generosity, enthusiasm, and willingness to help total strangers with author promos made me want to pay it forward too. :)

  1. This is absolutely fantastic! It makes me want to start writing books just so I can partake in YOUR generosity. :)

Thank you so much for the mention, Gemma. It's been, and is, an absolute pleasure to help. The best part is that I got to meet you.

I truly hope this goes from strength to strength.
